What you find in Lindfield
Spending some time in Haywards Heath, it is often a pleasure for me to take a walk and discover what’s outside town. West Sussex can offer so much more than we expect, and I often take a walk in search of adventurous discoveries in the villages around.
The walk is always very pleasant as you can see the villas and mansion houses. You are almost able to enter their garden and let your imagination reach into their interiors, you wonder if they have horses and a huge land at the back; you end up in a sort of classical British novel fantasy world.
Walking a little further up beyond the park from Haywards Heath, you enter a tiny little village. This is Lindfield, where the little pond on the left hand side composes a little picturesque image that feels like a splash into the past. As you walk through the beautiful village, you can spot an authentic vintage shop called the Toll House. The outside looks just like another village house and welcomes you with the same warmth of a home. In the three stories of vintage treasure and prettiness, the ladies who manage it are very happy to have a chit chat on little anecdotes and the latest gossip. Amongst the vintage goods, spread on the ground and first floor you can find very valuable pieces. From jewellery to accessories to furs, there is choice for every taste and every pocket. On the second floor, the vintage homeware offers very simple items that would give an old fashioned twist to any room, or would simply make a perfect present for a friend. What else could complete this utter British experience? But tea of course! In the Toll House there is a tea room where you can take a seat and sip on a cuppa or nibble on a light lunch. Enjoy.
